Increase app_data_short_term max. value

Our company is working with banks as customers. For compliance reasons we have to store all traces,logs,... for at least 3 Months.


In you documentation there is a config attribute called "app_data_short_term". Your support told me the max. value is 31 days. Please increase this value to at least 90 days.


Support also told me to create this FR since there are code changes involved. I would appreciate it, if those code changed could be implemented as fast as possible since we have an ISO-Certification-Audit soon.

    Hi Felix,

    sorry this took some time to evaluate.

    We thank you so much for submitting an idea and, in doing this, we appreciate your support in improving Instana product.
    Unfortunately this requirement is not currently in our roadmap and will not be for the next 12/18 months.
    If this feature is still a priority for your Instana implementation at that time, please reopen it to bring up to our attention and we will reevaluate for its inclusion.

    For the self-hosted Instana backend, there is only the option to perform backups of the relevant data stores. For Traces, the raw data is stored on cold storage already (S3 compatible), so backing those up might be first step already.
