Alert on agents

We need to create an alert when there is a significant drop in the number of agents, currently there is one alert per agent.

This will allow us to react quickly on our side in case of a significant loss of agents

    Hi Siva,


    This is a useful approach when troubleshooting system issues, but sometimes Agents fail to report to Instana. We only discover this gap during debugging when data is missing from Instana due to the Agent not running or reporting to the Master node. We need a way to identify these gaps without waiting for a real issue to occur.

    If you're running a Kubernetes environment, then it could be more idiomatic to detect when there is an inconsistency between the desired vs actual number of instana-agent DaemonSet pods. A custom event similar to the following could be created for this purpose:
