Today, even small changes like updating a availability-zone requires direct server access and manual editing of
configuration.yaml, which slows down operations, especially when different teams manage infrastructure and monitoring.Security concerns about exposing config data in the UI can easily be addressed through masking sensitive fields and role-based access etc. Datadog’s Fleet Automation is a great example of how this can be done securely and effectively.
Adding centralized agent configuration management in the Instana UI would greatly enhance usability, reduce setup time, and make the platform more attractive for large-scale and enterprise deployments.
This would be a great improvement for Instana on-boarding. A key selling point for Instana is ease of use. Today i find customers mainly struggle with managing the agent configuration.yaml files.
Our BP Rebendo also asks for this enhancement suggesting something similar to Datadogs Fleet Automation to configure agents from UI in one central place.
