Instana Self-Hosted make ports 8080 and 8081 configureable

Customer cannot use Instana onPrem environment as onPrem Instana requires 8080 and 8081 ports and doesn't allow to change the ports during installation.

There is a software installed on all servers in customer environment as per policy of the customer. That software uses ports 8080 and need to be changed during Instana installation. Disabling software is not allowed by the customer's security team.

Customer need flexibility to change the Instana server port 8080 to custom port to use Instana.

    Hi,
    as part of an upcoming security fix, we isolated relevant parts of Instana to a docker bridge network.
    So with the upcoming R247 release next Tuesday, this security fix will enable this use case here and you will be likely able to use 8080/8081 and therefore McAffee.

    My previous statement was wrong, the work that would enable usage of ports 8080/8081 is separate and would need to reevaluated before it's useable by customers. Putting this idea into future consideration.

    We need this to be resolved. You should concider not using prorts that other software could use as well.

    We are encountering the same issue. It would be good if Instana would allow us to change the port at install time.

    Hi,
    with the docker based solution, we cannot provide a functionality to change these ports anytime soon. You can opt for the K8s operator based solution, which does not require these ports to be available.


    If there is more customer demand for configurable ports for the docker-based installer, we might consider it at a later stage. Hence, I will anonymize your Idea and put it public.

    I'm having same problem. McAfee is using this port. That's quite popular port selected i would like to have oportunity to use different.
