XOAUTH2 for NOI EWS Probe- Software Development

Create a new version of EWS Probe for NOI that allows SASL XOAUTH2 Authentication to its own service Mailbox

Current Product Details for EWS Probe:
The current production version is using Exchange Web Services (EWS) Java API in the probe. Furthermore, our probe only supports OAuth2 grant type of password.

The link below shows the use of SASL XOAUTH2, which is not currently supported in the EWS probe.

I recently installed Im-nco8-p-ews-3_0.zip (Release ID: 3.0.1) to start OAuth2 authentication testing.

I was told yesterday OAuth2 authenticaton is still not supported.

On November 19th, 2020, I worked with IBM and installed the EWS probe version lm-nco-p-ews-2_0. IBM Case support number TS004531925.

From the following time frame, November 19th to February 16th, 2021, I worked with the following; IBM, Microsoft, and internal Electroluxglobal security team members to determine that the software version for the EWS probe will not work for our team.

On February 16th, 2021, the IBM engineer, Steve, contacted the L3 support team: Please see details below:

    • the Software version lm-nco-p-ews-2_0 used to connect to Exchange Online mailboxes needs full tenant rights

    • The access that the software requires is not acceptable by our Electrolux global security team.

I created this RFE per IBM's recommendation to have the EWS probe software enhanced to support the following; XOAUTH2 to support the access of a single mailbox.
