We want to be able to retrieve a device ID via API Query searching on device name

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

We want to be able to retrieve a device ID via API Query searching on device name without having to request the full device list and then parsing/greping through that full list of every device in the system in order to get a device ID.

Currently after raising a case with support the only way to get this data is by querying the system for a list of every device and then parsing the list for our device that we are looking for

    Evan,

Can we back up a step or two and ask why you need to fetch IDs in the first place? Is this a case where where there are other APIs you're interacting with that require IDs as inputs? If so, would it be preferable instead to evoke those APIs using device names so that you don't have to take the extra steps of looking up those IDs?

    Thanks,
