to extract from Azure the fact that a disk is an OS disk or a data disk without needing to rely on a naming standard

this will make it easier to associate different policies associated to the different disk types

I would like to be able to easily create disk volume based policies, separating out OS disks from data disks. At the moment, there is no easy way to identify the disk besides the naming standard. Azure does classify OS and data disks differently.
