Self-Monitoring Instana with Instana - Document Instana custom metrics

(Self-Hosted) Instana instances can be fully monitored using Instana. If you know which metrics (custom metrics in Instana) to look out for when workload or resources change.

Instana should provide up-to-date documentation of internal custom metrics to enable monitoring Instana, including the underlying data stores.

    Also, ideally any self hosted backend comes with a complete self monitoring suite:
    - Documentation

    - Preconfigured TU with licenses

    - AppPerspectives and SA

    - EUM

    - Potential custom dash for e.g. #of ingested and dropped spans etc

    Hi Christian,


    thank you for your idea. We understand that you need self-hosting monitoring to be able to react to changes in Instana workloads.

    And that are no blueprints delivered as part of the product. So it is not possible at the moment to do Instana operations with a similar SLA to Instana's SaaS operations. We definitely see value in having that and will consider it as future consideration in the product.

    You already submitted the idea publicly so that other customers can vote, which is great. I will slightly reformulate so it is easier to understand without prior context.
