I see this idea is three years old and marked for future release. I'm hoping it hasn't been forgotten as it would add significant value to statsd metrics. At the moment, if a metric has more than a small number of tags, it makes it hard to use it in a meaningful way. Ideally, this could work similar to how prometheus metrics get aggregated into a _total metric which can be used in dashboards. Otherwise, every possible tag combination needs to be added manually, which is impractical.
Hi Rajesh, we will be targeting this for a future release as we have already been working to support tagged grouping on Prometheus metrics.
Would love to connect with you to get an understanding of your use cases.
From the attached screenshot, you can observe we have a tag as collector and there would be like multiple values of collector like network3, network2. We like to add this statsd metric to custom dashboard and add a timeline series widget with aggregation of each collector values like sum of network2 and sum of network3 at that point of time
