This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Application Batch process Monitoring

Instana Application monitoring services are not reporting the data statistics as expected. Basically the service in question is a database one which is running on DB2 db. Whenever a batch execution happens there's a bunch of calls being made by the application/batch server towards the database. Those calls are basically a set of sql's that fetches/updates/selects/commits the data to/from the database. Unfortunately, calls are not reported as expected. Neither we are getting the end points, data flow or the top running sql's running on this DB service.

Infrastructure monitoring of that host db from the instana console does shows that the batch is under execution and there were a bunch of commits, selects, updates happening on the database (from infrastructure monitoring). A case was opened with IBM support #TS013654681 after which the support said that the batch process monitoring for current application (Curam) is not being supported and opted to use Instana Java SDK as a workaround which does includes code changes which is quite impossible. It was recommended by the support to create a feature request to include this application monitoring of batch process as a new idea for supporting Curam or any standalone application.

PS: Batch process is not just a curam application batch process rather it could be any standalone java process. Please refer to the IBM case number for your reference.

Improvements on batching SQLs are planned for implementation soon. Once I have the clear RoadMap, I will update it here
