Instana needs to support AutoTrace for OpenResty pod

Instana declares the support tracing for 3scale's OpenResty container.

But its support is limited for the manual instrumentation(undocumented).


In reality, 3 scale is mainly installed end managed by Operator and operator will update the pod. For keeping up the pace of 3scale, AutoTracing for 3scale OpenResty is essential.


In the following manual, we have confirmed that OpeResty is not supported.
For this reason, we are making this request.

    Because this request has not been implemented, we have been unable to deploy autotrace-webhook to 21 nodes in projects using 3scale.

    We are aiming to provide Instana to about 5 more financial companies in the future, but considering that autotrace-webhook cannot be deployed at each company, we are losing the opportunity to provide Instana for a total of 105 nodes.

    We are aiming to deploy 500~1000 Instana agents to these financial companies by 2027, including non-3scale nodes, but if this situation continues, they may consider switching from Instana in use to other competing tools (e.g. Dynatrace). We are looking forward to your feedback.

    Thank you for submitting the Idea. Because of our current backlog, I am unable to plan a timeline for this idea, although this is indeed in our backlog.

    Internal IBMers may also wish to vote on ideas. Therefore, we have the Product Scout team, which has been established to prioritize key ideas against the demands for the largest opportunities across all geographies.
