Request for HTTP Communication Support in Instana SaaS

Some customers only allow HTTP communication to monitor all outbound traffic from their environment.

Currently, on-premises deployments support both HTTP and HTTPS configurations,

but SaaS deployments only allow communication over HTTPS.

 

We kindly request that Instana SaaS be enhanced to support HTTP communication as well,

to accommodate environments with such network restrictions.

    Thank you for the idea!
    Post internal review of the idea and the support ticket TS018747636, the IBM recommended approach is as provided in the support ticket.

    Allowing unencrypted HTTP communication would violate IBM Security & compliance requirements. The client can perform HTTPS interception at their internal proxy.

    This feature is already supported by other competing solutions as like Datadog and DY.

    We provide our products to enterprise customers, and we believe they must be flexible enough to adapt to each customer's operational policies. Our products are not intended to override or change customers' operational or security standards. Therefore, we believe this feature request is valid and should be addressed.
