This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.
Welcome to the IBM Ideas Portal (https://www.ibm.com/ideas) - Use this site to find out additional information and details about the IBM Ideas process and statuses.

Another problem is that in the global custom payloads, you can't access MANY of the sensors. For example, IBM MQ does not show up. In fact, none of the IBM middleware shows up. Oracle is not there. IBM Power is not there. For databases, I only see MSSQL and MongoDB
Thanks for the information about Global alerts Siva. That will definitely help with some customers, but won't solve all of the problems. We spoke with CVS a few days ago. They gave us this specific usecase. Let's say they have a problem related to servers owned by one line of business. They want to be able to add a different tag for that line of business so that events get routed to the right team in their upstream processing.
It might be possible via a combination of global custom payloads that are dynamic and alert custom payloads that are static. But, one concern I have is that we have the proper context. For example, if an MQ alert triggers on a Queue, I expect to be able to pass both queue and queue manager dynamic values in the alert. I'll test this out.
We're working on getting some specific examples from CVS.
I would like to get 2 or 3 specific examples from customers to better understand what they are trying to do overall with this request. When I stand back from this, it seems to me some customers are overloading alerting in order to ‘take action’ further down the pipe. While this may be one way to do this, we may suggest a better way to do this using our action catalog and remediation capability. Again, having the specific examples will enlighten us on how to best do this within Instana.
Please note that global dynamic custom payloads are added to alerts only when they are available (e.g., adding a dynamic custom payloads globally for MQ Queue Name would not add "blank" payloads to alerts for which MQ Queue Name is irrelevant).
Also, dynamic custom payloads can be added to individual smart alerts for websites and application perspectives. We're in the plans of improving issue detection and alerting on infrastructure entities too (i.e., smart alerts for infrastructure), where we would introduce adding static/dynamic custom payloads on a per alert basis for infra-related alerts.
