Hi, thanks for pointing me to the support ticket. Please open a new support ticket and provide the DEBUG logs as requested by our support team. This is a support case. Ultimately the Agent should be able to connect to the Weblogic Server just fine and start pulling metrics & traces. In case support can not help with the issue, it will be forwarded to the engineering team for further investigation.
Please provide the requested log files and we will for sure resolve the issue.
Thanks & best regards.
Hi, thank you for your explanation and information.
On the side of Instana Support, the phenomenon itself has been discussed in detail with the request No. 30853 handled by Mr. Ivan Marinovic from Instana.
It'd be great if you'd communicate with him to know the situation and get back to us about this request.
Thank you.
Hi, thanks for the details on this matter.
What is causing "Our disk gets full because of Agent's retrying attachments repeatedly, and our system stops"? Does the agent log run over? By default, the agent log is set to rotate on 10x5MB log files. So total log consumption should not exceed 50MB. Please provide more details. In addition, this is the link to the documentation explaining agent logging in more detail: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/instana-observability/240?topic=agent-host-configuration#log-rotation
Otherwise this needs to be taken to Instana Support, since the repeated attach retries should not bring a system to halt.
Please provide some more details. Thanks.
Hi, Henning. Thank you for your time for this request. Before you close the request, we'd like you to let us clarify our purpose/background of the request. It might change your judgment on it.
The issue we're facing with is: "Our disk gets full because of Agent's retrying attachments repeatedly, and our system stops".
Our purpose of the request is to avoid the issue above.
If your judgement still doesn't change from "Not under consideration", would you let us know about it? It then will be a support case, and we'd like to consult with Instana Support, not on this platform.
Hi, in case a JVM can not be attached, but it should be monitored with Instana, this is a support case. In case the JVM should not be monitored with Instana, there are ways to exclude it from being discovered by the agent.
We will not provide such a limit, it would degrade monitoring after all.
Best regards
Henning Treu - Product Manager Agent
Since we've received a strong request about this from one of our customers, your prompt cooperation to realize this idea would be highly appreciated.
