Request to allow the configuration of the default 10 second value when an agent is disconnected from the SAAS instana Dashboard.
We have experienced on occasion network convergences or brief unexpected outages at which point our Instana's Agents loose connection with SAAS dashboard, when this is related to a convergence it can take up to 30 seconds to recover and so in order to mitigate false alarms we would like to be able to manipulate this value. IBM Support has advised that this value is not currently configurable and I should raise it here to request an improvement.
When an agent disconnects from communicating with SAAS we receive Teams alerts, notifying us that an application has gone offline, on checking we determine the application did not go offline and it was actually this disconnect between agent and SAAS.
We have confirmed with our connectivity team that for some of these disconnections between agent and SAAS, it was not caused by a network problem, this is being investigated with IBM support as to cause.

I also see, there is still an open support case, I will close this idea until the support case resolves.
Hi David,
the reported log line is on WARN level and will indicate connection issues from Agent to Backend. It does not result in any event right away.
The actual timeout in the backend is 2 minutes until a host "times out". Only after this period, the corresponding entities are reported to be offline. This is nothing we can address on Agent level.
I will make sure this idea gets routed properly.
Best regards
