Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notifications on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Please use the following category to raise ideas for these offerings for all environments (traditional on-premises, containers, cloud):
Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management
Cloud Pak for Network Automation - incl Orchestration and Performance Management
Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps - incl Netcool Operations Management portfolio
Edge Application Manager

ITM-APM Products - incl IBM Tivoli Monitoring v6 and Application Performance Monitoring v8
Workload Automation - incl Workload Scheduler
Tivoli System Automation - inc Tivoli System Automation Application Manager (SA AM), Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatforms (SA MP)
Custom dashboards: Copy a dataset or filter from one widget to another
Background and context When creating a dashboard it's often useful to re-use datasets or filters between different widgets. If it's the same widget, the duplicate widget functionality can be used, but there is no way to re-use a dataset or filter ...
Looks like you can only get an alert for every single jvm_attach_generic error. We would only want an alert when this event reaches a certain threshold. Lets say for example, one thousand events in 30 minutes. We do expect to get a certain amount ...
Background and context When creating custom dashboards and specifically the big number widget we are currently limited to show data from a dataset for where a specific filter can be created. There is no way to show a relation between two datasets....
Mobile Monitoring: Filter out network errors by default so mean latency is correct
Background and context The mean latency information in mobile monitoring is currently very skewed by that some calls show extremely high latencies. This is due to that Instana measures some corner cases that is not really interesting from performa...
Analytics: Filter backend calls based on origin == mobile app
Background and context The context of this idea is that Instana is monitoring a backend api + a mobile app which is using that backend api. In this scenario there is a risk of getting other sources of traffic (scraping bots, malicious actors, frau...
Custom events - Possibility to set up only during certain period of time
Hi, Nowadays there is not any possibility to create a custom event that could trigger an event only during time frame wished. Use case is clear. Imagine an integration that is only receiving calls during business hours. We could want to monitor if...
Support for podman on RHEL8 for Self-hosted backend server
At this point, we are not planning to add support for hosting the Instana backend with podman. The RHEL 8 docker package has been replaced by the container-tools module in RHEL 8 and some customers do not want to install docker-ce for RHEL 8 for t...
support NodeJS PrismaORM or the DB dependencies thereof
Instana currently does not auto discover DB queries made to MySQL through the PrismaORM package (https://www.prisma.io/). Presumably it's not Prisma that needs to be instrumented, but rather the DB Driver it uses (MariaDB?).
Provide Kubernetes Persistent Volume and Persistent Volume Claim built-in metrics and Events
Provide Kubernetes Persistent Volume (PV) and Persistent Volume Claim (PVC) built-in metrics and Events. PV/PVC metrics are essential to monitoring applications storge, however, Instana doesn't provide built-in metrics nor Events to cover the stor...
At this moment instana python sensor it's only support Tornado bellow version 6.0.0 but we need to update and app that depends on Tornado 6.1 and we need the Instana monitoritation. It's possible add support for Tornado >= 6.0.0 to Instana Pyth...
