Hello Christian,
Thank you for taking the time to share this idea and for providing detailed clarification on your ICAP/ICAPS use case. We appreciate the context around the osdm-connector service and how ICAPS is used to integrate with the antivirus scanning service.
While this request is valid, supporting ICAP/ICAPS visibility would require dedicated application-level Java tracer instrumentation for a specialized protocol. Given the current roadmap priorities and the relatively niche adoption of ICAP, this enhancement is not planned for the release currently under development.
That said, the request aligns with the broader tracing domain and has been captured for future consideration. We will continue to evaluate community feedback, including voting and additional customer input, and may reach out in the future if further clarification or discussion is helpful.
We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share your experience and recommendations. If you have additional feedback or questions, please feel free to reply and continue the conversation.

Hi, thank you for the intermediate feedback. With to reference to our current need and request open since May 2025 could Team please review to your earliest convinience.
Thanks for the information @Guest
Since this requirement is about adding protocol-level support for ICAP in a JVM client library (Toolarium-ICAP-Client), this will be owned by the Java Tracer team. Assigning the idea to @Prashant Raj Singh
Hi, please let us know if there is more information needed.
Kind Regards, Christian
Additional Update :
Java Lib Toolarium-ICAP-Client
used to send via ICAPS (Secure Socket Layer, encrypted, same base as HTTPS) to Virenscanner Server
Hi,
the ICAP client to be monitored is JVM Spring boot and it is sending files via ICAP protocol to MaxAfee Web Gateway ICAP Server Physical or Virtual Appliance
Hi Christian,
Could you please let me know which technologies were used to develop the service application?
Thank you!
Hi Christian,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We are reviewing the request and will get back to you shortly.
Kind regards,
