Hi,
The technical limitation for autotracing binary cannot be solved due to the fact that our Java AutoTracer is based on JVM instrumentation API.
And thanks a lot for the feedback, we will improve our documentation.
If these technical limitations cannot be / won't be solved, please consider providing/updating your documentation towards Tracing/Telemetry. There are many options that have different limitations. What would be really helpful is a guide or maintained example project for these GraalVM services on how to achieve optimal integration with Instana.
Right now I have to look up multiple pages to find some hints on why some part of the integration might or might not work.
Hi.
I can confirm that it is deployed as a binary. We'll have a look at OpenTelemetry.
Are there plans to solve these technical limitations?
Thanks,
Henning
Thanks for reaching out. Is that deployed as a binary instead of jar file? If so due to technical limitation we are not able to instrument it. You can try to use OpenTelemetry to instrument it and export trace to Instana Agent (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/instana-observability/current?topic=apis-opentelemetry#activating-opentelemetry-support).
