Add the ability to create a new OMNIbus Event Reader via command line interface

Our team want to implement a tool for automated centralized Monitoring System configuration management. For this purpose we need to be able to manage Impact settings via the command line. Current telnet interface functionality do not allow to create new OMNIbus Event Reader. It is possible only change settings of existing Event Reader.

Hello! I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with the case and/or RFE.

I would like to step in and help you get the solution you need. Netcool/Impact has a REST API, which you can use today to create data sources, data types, policies, and services, very easily.

IBM is such an incompetent company that its employees don't know their own software. While searching for a solution to my open case, the technical support staff suggested either editing the file and restarting the impact, or doing an export, then editing one of the configuration files, and then importing the configuration with the added service. They couldn't find any other ways to add a new service without using GUI. And as an additional step, they suggested creating a request for improvement. However, we found another solution, which we are using now. The list of native utilities includes the nci_add_service utility, which allows us to add a new service without unnecessary problems and rebooting the Impact. IBM staff should be ashamed of the quality of support they provide!
