The WMI Plugin is quite outdated at this point. Additionally managing the mapping of devices to WMI Proxies is a nightmare, as it can only be done through the API. Additionally, WMI Proxies are set on a per device basis. Ideally I'd like the ability to select a WMI Proxy, and list the devices which will be using that poller. This way when I need to migrate devices from one poller to another, I can select all devices from WMI Proxy 1, and instead add the to WMI Proxy 2. As opposed to writing a script and then manually updating each device with the new proxy ID. After I have to use the API to expose the Proxy ID.
Additionally, with patching of WMI Proxies, I end up having downtime in polling while that Proxy is rebooting. Realistically devices should have a primary and secdonary WMI Proxy defined. If the first WMI Proxy becomes unhealthy, the secondary takes over.
Today, I have to get an alarm that the WMI Proxy is down, then run a script to find the WMI Proxy ID, and then update each device manually.
