Currently some agents are pinned to a specific version, whilst other dynamic agents auto update. We control which versions are deployed where this way to ensure problems that occurred in the past do not reoccur. Updating pinned agents currently is a manual task which we would like to automate. We would like to scrape/parse release notes to decide whether an agent update is relevant for us, and decide whether we want to then initiate an update through the stages.
This decision is not possible as we cannot find/subscribe to release notes for the Instana Agents.

Hi,
first let me state, that the Agent versioning and update strategy is undergoing a re-engineering effort. This will in the future help to better control when to update and also provide proper release notes for the agent. There is no ETA on this but 2nd half of 2023 is targetd.
Please let me know what the actual issue is:
The dynamic agent will update once every night to the latest sensor & agent releases. Is this too frequent? Shoudl the update be triggered manually to a specific version? With some more input maybe we can already provide a solution.
Thanks & best regards
Henning Treu - Product Manager Instana Agent & Application Perspectives
