This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

One use case is when a smart alert is set up with the Threshold type set to 'Adaptive Threshold'. In this scenario, the alert might resolve quickly due to the adaptive threshold, even though the underlying issue remains unresolved. If there were an option to disable auto-resolve events or smart alerts, the alert would remain active, allowing us to review and close it manually.
We are reviewing this and have had a couple of discussions to clarify with the team as well on technical aspects.
While in general the approach for Smart Alerts are that issues are open as long as the violating conditions are met, we understand that there are cases where the monitored metric might just be about singal events (ie like a crash of a service) and would not keep the metric in violation for extended time periods.
In general, from the aspect of Instana, the observed metric has returned to normal and hence the issue is automatically closed in this case, we are now considering a configuration option in Smart Alerts to allow an issue to be open indefinitely or at least for a certain time period.
As we have recently introduced manual close of events, it is now more suitable to have an option like this just to assure the singular occurance issues can also be kept in the focus of Instana users as appropriate.
As we're still assesing the scope and technical requirements for this capability, there is no ETA yet.
